5 Tips to Consider When Choosing Your Affiliate Marketing Campaign

Although affiliate marketing has become more competitive over the last couple of years, the appeal amongst online entrepreneurs is still going strong. Now, there are hundreds to thousands of affiliate programs out there. The question is; which is the best one that suits your long term strategy and profitability.

5 Tips to Consider When Choosing Your Affiliate Marketing Campaign

5 Tips to Consider When Choosing Your Affiliate Marketing Campaign

  1. Product: The first consideration is whether the product is a good one. When you are marketing a product, you are actually putting the trust of your customers and your reputation on the line. The best way to ensure that you are marketing a product that is high quality and delivers on its promise is to try and experience the product by yourself. You should never market a product that you have never tried or experience for yourself.
  2. Passion: You should market a product that you have knowledge, interest and feel passionate about. Remember that you will be spending a great deal of time convincing people that they should purchase your product. If you know nothing or have no interest in the product, it will show when you communicate to your prospective customer.
  3. Demand: Just as you should be interested in the product, you will need to find out whether other people feel the same about your product. This is where market research into the demand for your product becomes important. One thing that you can include in your market research is to see whether the keywords or phrases associated with your product has a high search volume on the internet. If the search volume stays consistently high, it is a good indication that your product has good and sustained demand.
  4. Merchant: The good merchant offering the affiliate program will normally provide the resources and materials for its affiliates. You should also do some research about the merchant; making sure that the merchant has a good reputation of paying on time, not shaving off commissions, has a good affiliate software and providing good support. Keep in mind that if you are going to be promoting or representing someone else’s product offer, you need to be sure that the merchant is reputable, good, and has strong potential for performance-based sales.
  5. Conversion Rate: The next important factor to take note would be the conversion rate. These numbers are critical when choosing an affiliate program. If the product or advertiser you are presenting offers a high commission, but their website just does not convert, you will not make any money promoting the product. I will be a waste of your time.

Boost Your Profits with Internet Marketing

If you are a business owner, you should know by now that you need to market your business on the internet. The conventional “mom and pop” or “brick and mortar” concept of marketing your business is no longer enough unless you are satisfied with your current revenue and do not see the need to expand your business. It is a fact that people are relying more and more on the internet for information and shopping. This is a trend that you need to take advantage to promote your business.

Boost Your Profits with Internet Marketing

Boost Your Profits with Internet Marketing

There are several things that you need to do to get started:

  1. Set up your own website. First of all, you will need to have a well designed website for your business. You do not know how to get started? Please read my article on how to start setting up your first website and choosing your web hosting. A website is a virtual presence of your business on the online world that runs on a 24/7 basis and showcasing your products even while you are asleep or on vacation. You will need to have high quality content on your website and be well organized so that your visitors can easily find information and view your products easily.
  2. Establish your online presence and brand awareness. Once your website is ready and online, you will need to advertise; after all, you need to help people to find your website. You can advertise your website on the search engines. You should think about the words or phrases that your potential audience will use to look for the kind of information or products that you would like to offer. You can also spread the word by building a strong social media presence. This is a major way for people to connect to you. People use the social media to tell one another about good deals, events or new items in the market. You should establish a presence on popular platforms like Facebook, Googleplus and Twitter. On these platforms, you should introduce yourself and invite people to follow you. Give them incentives and be responsive when they follow you by always having interesting posts on your page. This is how you build up your brand and a loyal following.
  3. Create rapport and trust between you and your customers. Your rapport with your customers is very important and hence you will need to spend time and money to nurture the rapport and trust in your brand. When a person asks any questions or make comments, you must respond promptly. You should always respond in a professional way and with a courteous tone. You must always be honest and be genuinely sincere to help your audience. The online users of today are generally internet savvy and they can tell whether you are being realistic or just full of hype. A single bad review can cause a lot of damage to your brand and your business so you need to be careful when engaging with your audience.
  4. Stay engaged with your audience. Always give your audience some incentive to stay with you. People like promotions, new launches and events and they like to share them as well.
  5. Network with others: You should consider participating in forums and other online communities. Establish yourself as an expert in your field of business. Post your opinions and give good quality comments. In this way, you will build your reputation among your peers and audience.

Internet marketing is something that will require patience, time, dedication and perseverance. Success on the internet cannot be achieved overnight and you have to keep working at it. You must always be open to learning from others. In the end, if you can provide what people need, and they can find you, you will be in a good position for success.

Why Mobile Marketing Is the Next Big Thing

Search Engine Marketing, for a long time, has been one of the best forms of digital marketing. When search engine marketing first started, it was hailed as a revolution in the marketing industry. People search the internet and Google when they are looking for information or products more often than they use the yellow pages or the newspaper. As a matter of fact, the word “google” becomes synonymous to looking for information online.

However, the impact of this new revolution did not stop there. Advertising revenue for major newspapers took a hit because fewer businesses are using them to advertise their products. To a lesser extent, online advertising is also affecting revenues for television and radio.

Mobile Marketing

Mobile Marketing

There are several reasons why traditional marketing is beginning to lose its appeal. In marketing, it is very important that advertisements are targeted to your specific audience; any more than that would be a waste of effort and money. Next, a way to measure the success of each of your marketing campaigns is critical. Why? From the data that you receive from the marketing campaigns, you are able to refine the different aspects of your campaign.

In online advertising, there are tools that will help you narrow your advertising effort to your intended audience. For example, on Google Adwords, you are able to run campaigns with key phrases that are relevant to your advertisements. For example, if you are selling a used washing machine, your advertisement will only appear if someone enters the relevant words like “used washing machine”, “cheap washing machines” or “budget washing machines”. With Google Adwords, you can see which advertisement has more CTR or “click through rate” that will actually end with a sale. For example, people who are looking for a “budget washing machines” may actually be looking for a new washing machine at a low price. With online marketing, you can remove the key phrase and run the campaign again. You can fine tune your campaign until you get the result that you want then scale accordingly.

Online advertising is also very effective on the social media. On Facebook, members willingly provide personal information on their profile, their likes and dislikes, where they are staying, their hobbies, personalities that they admire, the movies that they like and so on. All this information is a gold mine to a marketer. A marketer will be able laser target their advertisements exactly to their target market. A marketer can put forward a product right in front of people who are actually interested and will likely purchase the product. Similar to search marketing, you have access to data that measures the success of each of your campaigns.

On the other hand, it is difficult to narrow your audience and measure the success of your marketing campaign when using the more traditional advertising such as newspaper, magazine, television and radio. Very often, the advertisements are presented to a large number of people in which the majority of them are not even interested in the product that you are selling. Once you have run the campaign, you are able to measure the success only after a few months when you review your sales figures.

That said, what is the future for online marketing? If you ask me, mobile marketing is likely the next big thing in marketing. These are the why I say this:

  • The ownership of mobile devices has increased over the years largely due to a reduction in price.
  • As the name implies, mobility is the reason why people carry their mobile device everywhere they go. This is very conducive for time sensitive offers. Your advertisement is likely to reach your audience almost immediately.
  • Technology like iBeacon on mobile devices is a great enabler for location sensitive offers. This technology is currently underutilized but this will likely change in future.
  • Search engines and social media platforms are increasingly using location information of mobile device users to further refine the search results that they serve to the users.
  • Mobile apps are very popular to mobile device users; even more popular than the browser to the extent that the users prefer to use their mobile devices over their PC to look for certain information simply because it is more convenient and offer instant gratification. For example, they will use Yelp to find restaurants on their mobile device.

So, what does this mean to you?  It means that your presence on the online world must be optimized for mobile devices. Smart businesses will create mobile apps as mobile extensions of their website for their customers using the mobile device.

3 Ways to Affiliate Marketing without a Website

The internet has made it possible for affiliate marketing to be one of the most lucrative businesses; a business that could be started with practically a shoestring budget. Affiliate marketing can be started with a little knowledge on how to use the computer and browsing the internet.

No Website Needed

No Website Needed

In affiliate marketing, a website is certainly a handy tool to communicate your marketing message. However, for some people who are non-technical, setting up a website can be a daunting task. There is an option to outsource the building of your website but if you are working with a small budget, you can always kickstart your business without a website. There are many platforms out there that are free and can be used to spread your message.

  1. YouTube Marketing: Youtube is a free channel that you can use to post your marketing videos and advertisements. In fact, video is a more effective way of presenting your ideas, promoting a product or delivering an advertisement.
  2. Social Media: The common social media channel like Facebook and Twitter are excellent ways to engage with your audience.
  3. Article Directories: The article directory is one way to publish your marketing materials on the internet. By publishing your articles, you can promote your expertise and establish yourself as an authority in your niche market. This will help to instill a sense of trust in your audience; which is essential in closing a sale.

There are many more methods to start an affiliate marketing business without a website. These methods require no startup capital and would only require an investment in time. Perseverance and determination until you see some results is very important in building a successful affiliate marketing business.

The Importance of Focus and Avoiding the “Shiny Object” Syndrome in Internet Marketing

There was a time when looking for information that you need is a difficult task. It will normally require a trip to the library and spending hours upon hours looking through books before finding the exact information that you need. Now, with search engines like Google, Yahoo or Bing, you can obtain the information that you need within seconds. The process is so simple that anyone can do it.

However, the relative ease in accessing information present another set of problems; the problem of information overload.

The "Shiny Object" Syndrome

The “Shiny Object” Syndrome

In internet marketing, access to the most current technology and trends is a critical way to outsmart your competition. In general, it takes a lot of research and time to find profitable niches and create strategies to reach out to your potential market. Unfortunately, marketers are very often faced with serious information overload and became distracted with new buzzwords, trends, marketing products and channels and thus, the marketer feels that they must use them on their target audience.

In the end, the marketer does not achieve any success and eventually abandon the whole business. We call this problem the “shiny object syndrome”.

Although looking through new trends, ideas and products can be fun, exciting and unexpected, the problem with the “shiny object syndrome” lies with the marketer who jumps at the opportunity to use them without due consideration to the target audience. After the marketer started to use the new idea, normally, the marketer does not give sufficient time and dedication into making the idea work. Very often, the marketer will move to another idea while thinking that the old idea does not work. With the “shiny object syndrome”, this cycle happens again and again. Eventually, the marketer gives up on the whole business altogether.

So, how do you avoid the “shiny object syndrome”?

You must always consider your current business strategy before adopting new ideas or concepts. You should always focus on how to solve the problems that you are having, the audience that you are trying to reach and the resources that you have. If the ideas or concepts do not fit into your goals, then you should not adopt them at all. For example, just because everyone jumps into social media, it does not mean that you should jump on it right away. Before adding anything new to your marketing plan, you must analyse whether your current plan is already succeeding. If you add something new without understanding why your current plan is failing, it will most likely still result in failure.

It is important that everything is stable and destine for success before you start adding or changing new ideas into your marketing plan.

To an internet marketer, it is of utmost importance to not fall for “shiny object syndrome.” You are more than allowed to use new things in your strategy but you must always consider what you are trying to achieve with your overall plan. If there is any need to change the plan, you must always ensure that it is appropriate to your target audience.

Why Should Absolutely Consider Internet Marketing

Internet Marketing is a huge business opportunity that will help you achieve three things that no other business can offer you; financial freedom, location freedom and time freedom.

  3. Your office can be anywhere in the world where there is an internet connection. In fact, your office can be by the beach if you want.

Social Media Marketing Mistakes that You Should Avoid

Very often, most internet marketers regard marketing on the social media to be the same as marketing on search or pay per action media.

There is a well known marketing wisdom. When it comes to marketing, it is important that you enter into the mind of your audience; and failure to do this is perhaps the single most important reason why marketers fail to sell anything.

Social Media

Social Media

The mindset of a person who goes into a search platform is to look for information. This person is looking for answers on the internet. This is the reason why the focus of the internet marketer on a search platform, first and foremost is to provide information. Once the audience is convinced and trust that your product is the answer, then they will purchase your product.

The same cannot be said about the social media. On the social media, as the name implies, is a platform where people go to socialize and not necessarily looking for an answer. So, the mindset of your audience on the social media is very different and hence, a different approach is necessary to create leads and make a sale.

When I first started in social media marketing, I was very focused on generating leads and making sales. It was a disaster. For example, an obvious idea is to go into groups that are related to making money. So, I put up content, a sales letter and made sales pitch to everyone in the group. What is the outcome? Everyone ignores all of it.

You can compare the experience on the social media to be similar to going to a party. Do you have friends who are insurance agents, real estate brokers or MLM marketers? These are annoying friends who simply cannot stop trying to sell; they just cannot help it. The most polite thing to do is to try to avoid them. The same experience applies to a social media environment. On the social media, most people prefer to “keep it light” and would rather avoid making buying decisions. This does not mean that you cannot sell anything on the social media. The strategy and approach has to be different on the social media.

My experience on the social media is that once I decided to stop posting to get leads and generate sales, I begin to get leads and generate sales. Let me explain.

On the social media, I switched from being a sales person to become the most engaging and interesting person that I can be. In discussions that I had knowledge and expertise, I try to present myself as an authority but stop short from taking the “hard selling” approach. At the same time, I started asking questions and tried to learn more about everyone else and showing genuine interests in the problems or issues that they were facing. I would ask questions about their posts, their trade or business, their success in their career or business, their family, their children, their job and anything else that they feel comfortable sharing with me. I showed genuine interest in their lives. Basically, I was making an effort to be a friend that people trust.

When I became a friend, they, in turn, started asking questions about me. They started asking about my business, my success and my family. This was the time when I share the products that I sold and the services that I provided to my customers. I would lead them to my product videos. I had them connect to me on Twitter, my Blog and add me as a friend on Facebook or Google+, because..you are right, we were friends. They will then share my content and help me to generate more leads.

So, instead of posting (or spamming) content and ignoring the mindset of your audience I post content to friends who want to work with me. Social media marketing is ultimately about getting social and making friends. Embrace the social side of life in your marketing, generate interests from your audience in you, start sharing ideas and products that you offer and then watch your results explode.

Are you an Advertiser or a Publisher?

When signing up for offers, the provider will normally ask whether you would like to sign up as an Advertiser or as a Publisher. As an affiliate marketer, you would naturally see yourself as the advertiser. This is incorrect, well, at least from the provider’s point of view.

Advertiser or Publisher?

Advertiser or Publisher?

The role of Advertiser or Publisher should be seen from the provider’s point of view.

To the provider, the person or company who submits an offer to be advertised within the network is the Advertiser. They are the ones who are asking the provider to promote their products. Simply put, the Advertisers are the merchants who will pay the network to get people (traffic) to their offers.

On the other hand, an affiliate is the one who publishes the offers on websites or drive traffic to the offers. This is the reason why you are viewed as the Publisher. The Publisher will promote the product using whatever traffic methods and gets paid by the provider.

Simple right?

Advantages to Internet Marketing

As the internet takes a more significant role in the lives of many people, many small businesses begin to realize that the best way to compete with bigger and more established brand is to harness the power of the internet. Small businesses are making use of the internet marketing to project their brand to the masses.

Internet Marketing

Internet Marketing

In a report issued by PwC[1], online advertising is expected to grow and exceed TV advertising (and any other media advertising for that matter; such as radio, magazine and newspaper advertising in 2019 reaching $83.9 billion. This is a very powerful trend that no business owner should ignore.

Online advertising is expected to overtake TV advertising in size in 2019, with the former reaching $83.9 billion on the back of a 2014-2019 compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.15%.

As expected, mobile’s share of online ad spend is expected to grow throughout the forecast period, increasing from a forecast 30% share this year to a predicted 46% share in 2019, buoyed by a 2014-2019 CAGR of 25.6%.

Of the “wired” internet advertising types, paid search is expected to retain its dominance, growing from $19.7 billion this year (51% share of wired internet advertising) to $22.1 billion in 2019 (49% share). Paid search’s CAGR of 3.2% will be eclipsed, however, by video ads’ forecast CAGR of 15%, which will take desktop video from an estimated $3.8 billion in revenues this year to $6.6 billion in 2019.

So, what does this trend means to you?

It means that there is never a better time to take advantage of this upward trend.

Internet marketing or advertising requires a much smaller cost when compared to other media such as television, radio, magazine or newspaper. Furthermore, internet marketing allows the advertiser to reach the global market unlike the other traditional media.

This is precisely why network marketers, entrepreneurs, home business owners and anyone else who wants to get their brand out quickly and efficiently from really anywhere in the world to anyone in the world makes use of the internet.

Besides having access to the global market, another advantage for companies using internet marketing is the relative ease to track their progress and measure the success for each and every marketing campaign that the run online. With proper software or tools, there are ways to track progress, through sales, promotions and daily advertising. It makes marketing measurable which is highly valuable. A business owner can see what is working and what isn’t and make the necessary adjustments accordingly. A common problem when using traditional media is the difficulty in measuring whether a marketing campaign is successful.

Secondly, internet marketing enables a business owner to easily target certain segments of the market making the advertising campaign more focused and essentially more successful. For example, by using social media advertising like facebook or google plus, a business owner can easily “laser” target their advertising efforts based on the age, likes and location of the eyeballs who will view his advertisement. This is powerful.

Another benefit of internet marketing is the ability to make use of emails and social media to keep customer’s updated about new product and services that a company introduce into the market. This method will allow a company to make repeated sales to their existing customer base.

As you can see, these are just several advantages to internet marketing. So if you are ready to have your business booming and bursting at the seams, you should really consider internet marketing as the first option in making you dreams come true.

I understand that it maybe daunting to tackle this internet marketing on your own and without the right tools and guidance at your disposal. Many times, it can be so overwhelming that people give up. Similar to many other things in life, education is key.

I would recommend that you get a mentor who will help you to avoid the pitfalls and guide you through a clear path to success. If you are a person who is an action taker and very teachable, I would suggest you click on this link to launch your internet marketing career.

How Exactly Does Affiliate Marketing Works?

There is no doubt that the internet has revolutionized the way that we do business and is becoming an increasingly important trend. Today, there are thousands of people who are looking for money making opportunities over the internet and the number is set to rise very rapidly. While there are numerous ways to make money on the Internet, one of the most popular and simplest ways to start an online business is with affiliate marketing.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing, in simple terms is basically a business where a person or company is paid a commission for every sale that is generated from an advertisement or link that leads the customer to the offer. While the term affiliate marketing may be new, the actual business model has been around for generations.

A pioneer in affiliate marketing, Amazon.com launched its own affiliate program in the mid-1990s. The program pays commission to an affiliate each time the affiliate leads a visitor to the Amazon.com website via a website link. Though Amazon was not the very first with this idea, they were among the best to implement it. Amazon provides its affiliates the tools and methods that can be easily implemented. In the year 2000, Amazon received a patent for their methods.

With social media and the invention of nearly instant communication, blogging, commenting, and ratings, affiliate marketing has grown into a massive industry. It is not unusual for top affiliates to earn hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars.

Typically, the commission rate for an affiliate is about 25 to 70% for each sale. This compensation is based on either the number of clicks, leads, or in most cases an actual sale between the merchant and the customer. From the commission rate, you can immediately realize that the affiliate marketing can be a very profitable business especially if done right.

An affiliate marketer that can drive significant qualified traffic to the merchant’s website can potentially make a six-figure income each and every month. This is the reason why there are thousands of people who are drawn into the business believing that they can strike gold by becoming an affiliate marketer.

These are the benefits of becoming an affiliate marketer:

  1. An affiliate marketer is only responsible for selling the product. The after sales process such as shipping and customer support are handled by the merchants
  2. The affiliate marketer does not bear the cost for product development and any other back office costs.
  3. There is no limit to the number or amount of products that can be market and sold by the affiliate marketer.
  4. The affiliate marketer does not have to be concerned with any long-term contracts (in most cases).
  5. Normally, the affiliate marketer has access to all the products sold by the merchants
  6. The cost of setting up of the affiliate business is low and normally requires only a web presence and hosting. In some cases, the merchants will also help an affiliate marketer in their web presence, training and sales approach.
  7. There are no geographical limitations (with few exceptions) thus allowing an affiliate marketer to make sales to anyone around the world.
  8. Affiliate commissions, especially with digital products, can often be as high as 70% which is a huge margin.
  9. The selling can be done around the clock if the sales “funnel” is set up correctly. This means that the affiliate marketer can make money even while he is sleeping or on vacation.

Becoming an affiliate marketer can be exciting and profitable. Successful affiliate marketers often enjoy financial, location and time freedom that is rare in any business. If you are considering to be an affiliate marketer, I would urge you to do as much research as you can, choose a product or niche, then take the next step.
